Rorvains
Rorvains:
Critics of the Concordance: The Rorvains are a faction within the Kraeth species that vehemently disagrees with the philosophies of the Concordance, the central government of which the Kraeth are founding members.
Ultra-Nationalistic and Speciesist: The Rorvains are ultra-nationalistic and openly speciesist, expressing a violent disdain for the aims of the Concordance and perceiving the Kraeth's cooperation with other species as a compromise of their superiority.
History of Violence: Named after the ancient Kraeth 'Ravagers,' who engaged the Thrakians in a violent conflict, the modern Rorvains consider themselves to be restoring the old order and finishing what their predecessors began thousands of years ago.
Cybernetic Enhancements: Despite their belief in the superiority of the Kraeth, Rorvains actively embrace cybernetic enhancements, including cortical implants, limb replacements, filtration modules, and muscle boosters.
Off-Grid Colonies and Piracy: Rorvainian adherents establish off-the-grid colonies throughout Kraeth territory and engage in piracy to sow terror, obtain resources, and advance their cause.
Infiltration into the Military: Some Rorvains have infiltrated the Kraeth military, keeping their beliefs and cybernetic enhancements hidden while working towards their common goal of retaking the home world for Kraeth, exclusively.
The Kraeth are best known as a founding member of the Concordance - but not all members of their species agree with the philosophies of the central government. The most radical of these critics are the Rorvains.
Ultra-nationalistic and unabashedly speciesist, the Rorvain have a violent disdain for the aims of the Concordance, as well as the perceived acquiescence of the Kraeth to “lesser” beings. Attempting to advance their species, they’ve taken to militancy, terrorizing the populace and sabotaging government interests.
The name ‘Rorvain’ is a rough translation for ‘Ravager’ in ancient Kraeth, a feared band of berserkers who engaged the Thrakians during their war. The maniacal group of unsanctioned soldiers murdered their way across Thrakian space, before being halted by the armistice brokered by the Ultra Magi. The modern Rorvainians believe themselves to be restoring the old order, and finishing the job their predecessors began thousands of years ago.
Somewhat paradoxically (considering their professed belief that the Kraeth are the superior life from), Rorvainian adherents are indulged in a great deal of cybernetic enhancement. From cortical implants to total limb replacements, filtration modules to muscle boosters, the Rorvain have no limits on the kind of implants and upgrades they’re willing to use.
Small communities of Rorvainians exist, pockets of believers establishing off the grid colonies throughout Kraeth territory. Others actively engage their perceived enemies, turning to piracy to sow terror and obtain cash and materials. More troubling, other members have seemingly infiltrated the Kraeth military, keeping their beliefs and enhancements well hidden. Ultimately, all their goals are the same: retake their home world, for Kraeth, and Kraeth only.
