The Precursors

The Precursors:

  • Galactic Dominance: In the ancient past, the Precursors held control over the entire galaxy. Their influence is evidenced by the invention of long-distance navigation technology and the creation of the algorithmic-based computer brains powering Automata.

  • Technological Legacy: The Precursors left behind a legacy of advanced technology, including mysterious devices and texts. Their innovations form the foundation of modern galactic travel and the intelligence of Automata.

  • Decline and Catastrophes: The Precursors faced a decline marked by a series of catastrophes, which led to their eventual disappearance. The nature of these catastrophes remains unknown.

  • Unanswered Questions:

  • Origins of Modern Species: The role of the Precursors in the creation of modern species in the galaxy is unclear. Did they play a direct part in the emergence of the current dominant species

  • Galactic Civilization: Were the Precursors the first galactic-level civilization, or were they merely the latest in a series of advanced civilizations that have risen and fallen?

  • Fate of the Precursors: The disappearance of the Precursors raises questions about whether they are truly gone. If they were so powerful, what could have brought about the end of the Precursors?

Long before the modern era, the civilization referred to as the Precursors controlled the breadth of the entire galaxy. Little is known about them: they invented the long-distance navigation technology that makes galactic travel possible, created the algorithmic-based computer brain that brings to life every Automata, and left behind a variety of mysterious devices and texts. The Precursors went into decline after a series of catastrophes, and eventually vanished entirely. They left behind a multitude of questions: did they create the modern species that have come to dominate the galaxy? Were they the first galactic-level civilization, or only the latest? Are they truly gone? And if they were so powerful, what could have put an end to the Precursors?
